DEDICATED TO INNOVATION AND SAFETY
Massachusetts Materials Technology (MMT) was founded in 2014 based on an innovative concept developed through PhD thesis research by our CEO and CTO at MIT. This concept known as frictional sliding created the opportunity to transform the way material verification and material properties are measured. From this opportunity, our Hardness, Strength, and Ductility (HSD) Tester was designed and MMT was established. Since then, with the help of numerous investors, government grants, and happy customers, MMT has developed multiple commercial iterations of the HSD Tester and has developed a proof of concept lab iteration of the Nondestructive Toughness Tester (NDTT). As these technologies have evolved, our predictions have gotten more accurate, and our team has grown. We have been able to develop relationships with many pipeline operators and have been able to do more in-house testing at a larger facility.
As the demand for nondestructive testing continues to grow, MMT continues to focus on its core mission to develop innovative, technologies to utilize in field services that will provide our customers with accurate and reliable information about the structural integrity, material strength, and toughness of their assets. The 2018 team goal for MMT is to continue to work with our charter customers to determine how the HSD Tester will provide the best impact for cost efficiency and pipeline integrity in the context of service life extension.
SPECIALIZED AND DEDICATED
LEADERSHIP
CTO
Steven D. Palkovic
PhD.
Dr. Palkovic leads the data analytics and data quality team. He has extensive experience in engineering and numerical modeling of material deformation, plasticity, and fracture at multiple length scales. He has developed finite element models of many contact mechanics problems, including those that provide the fundamental basis for the HSD Tester and NDTT.
Director of Business Development
Buddy Powers
Buddy Powers spent 15 years as a driving force behind Clock Spring’s growth. He is now responsible for spearheading MMT field service sales and launching the leasing program for the HSD. He has a BS in engineering, holds a Project Management Certification from UC Berkeley Haas School of Business.
BOARD OF DIRECTORS
CEO Simon C. Bellemare PhD. PE.
Our team and partners are dedicated to delivering quality material strength verification data which will best address new regulation requirements and, more importantly, will reduce the risk of major incidents and recurring costs of integrity programs.
This value to pipeline operators will continue to built step-by-step through concurrent integrity field testing procedure development and actually collecting opportunistic strength data via nondestructive testing during routine inspection programs.
I am very excited to help the talented MMT team build a great organization, to promote a culture of trusted working relationships with our partners and customers, and continue to 'set the bar' for excellence, innovation and value in nondestructive metal strength verification markets.
